STYLE: Mark Cross

A quick history of America's oldest luxury leather goods company...

Mark Cross began as saddlers and harnessmakers in 1845.  Gerald and Sara Murphy, whose family owned the company throughout its heyday, were the leaders of the Lost Generation in Paris...buddy buddies with Cole Porter, the Fitzgeralds, Hemingway, Picasso, and "inventing" the Summer season on the Riviera.  Mark Cross creates the iconic "Grace box" luggage seen in Hitchcock's Rear Window. The company is closed in 1997 and relaunched in 2010 under new ownership.

It's a helluva history and a helluva company.
