Thank You! I have long wondered what the deal was with the quilt block patterns on barns. Interestingly, while in the Alsace Museum in Strasbourg France there were farm house walls with prayers and symbols worked into the plaster. It looks like this sort of thing isn't restricted to American folk art.
Great tidbit about the symbols in the Alsace region. If the Pennsylvania Dutch emigrated from Germany, it makes sense that they used the same patterns on their barns back in the Old Country. Thanks for reading!
